I am Susan (Middleton) McCready and I am running for reelection to the Andover School Committee. There are two 3-year term seats to be elected and I would appreciate your vote on Tuesday, March 27th.

As a graduate of the Andover Public School system, a parent of a middle school student and a third generation Andover resident, I am deeply vested in our town and our schools.

In my first term on the Committee, I supported:

  • improvements to our district communications and parent engagement
  • reduction in elementary classroom sizes
  • reduction in Full Day Kindergarten tuition
  • robust investment in our Language Based Learning programs
  • adoption of the 7+H Schedule at AHS
  • renovation/replacement of West Elementary through the MSBA process
  • creation of the AHS Facility Study Committee to research renovation/replacement of AHS
  • effective partnership between our town and our schools
  • review and update of the School Committee policy manual

Like many parents, I have volunteered in our classrooms. I know families are paying beyond town taxes to subsidize learning tools and supplies for the classroom and fees for other services. I see the challenges that a talented team of educators face on a daily basis in delivering a quality and broad reaching education to our children.

I value collaboration and balancing the views of all to work toward what is best for our school system and our town. Partnership and compromise work.  I have championed longer term planning, robust communication, and a balanced approach toward instituting improvements and maintaining education as a priority in Andover.

The work is far from done and I'm committed to continuing on.  It is all about our kids!  Thank you for your support!
